Fae Lights

Fae Lights is our entry for MiniJam #150, a collaborative project with my friends and classmates Marcos Pardo and my brother, Juan Avilés. We built the game in GameMaker using GML, creating a unique lighting system that cast shadows based on vertices using shaders.

My contributions included implementing character movement, menu logic, and sound programming—I synthesized and programmed an oscillating sound effect that shifted frequency based on the character’s velocity. I also handled all the visual assets and animations, and composed, mixed, and mastered the game’s music and sound effects. It was a tight-knit team effort that pushed us to blend creativity and technical skills under a tight deadline—and we ended up taking second place in the presentation category!
